SNU College of Engineering, world’s largest computer vision conference ICCV 2019 held in Korea for the first time

According to SNU college of Engineering (Dean Kookheon Char), ICCV 2019, a top international conference in artificial intelligence and computer vision, will be held in Coex, Seoul, from October 27th to November 2nd, where professor Kyoungmu Lee of SNU Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering will serve as the general chair.
 
ICCV (International Conference on Computer Vision) is a premier international conference, which was in the forefront of technology development in computer vision and artificial intelligence for the last 32 years. This conference first started in 1987 cohosted by IEEE and International Computer Vision Foundation (CVF). It has been held every two years since then in different continents, and it is meaningful to have it in Korea for the first time this year.


ICCV 2019 is expecting 7,500 participants and 1,077 accepted papers, which makes the biggest numbers in the conference history. Also, around 74 companies related to artificial intelligence from around the world, including Google and Facebook, will showcase their technology and products.

In particular, state-of-the-art papers and technology directly related to the fourth industrial revolution such as ▲environment recognition algorithms for autonomous driving ▲processing methods and applications of video contents using artificial intelligence ▲security management with face, pose, and action recognition ▲virtual and augmented reality ▲robots with artificial intelligence for environment recognition and interaction will be presented.

Professor Kyoungmu Lee, serving as general chair of this conference, said, “We look forward to seeing cutting edge technologies from scholars and experts in artificial intelligence from around the world through ICCV 2019. Also, we’d like to show our level and interest in artificial intelligence technology to companies and experts from all around the world and contribute to our nation competitiveness
