SNU College of Engineering announced the election of professor Kukjin Chun (Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering) as the vice president of IEEE Member and Geographic Activities Board.

The Korean Academy of Science and Technology, which is an institute for scholars in the field of science and technology, announced on the 2nd that emeritus professor of SNU Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering Min-Koo Han(Fellow) will become its next president.

Made in Korea autonomous vehicle ‘SnuVER’ started delivering packages in the center of Silicon Valley, the land of innovation. With Ace Hardware, a large retail chaining company with 5000 stores, a pilot delivery service project with autonomous vehicles was launched at the start of this month.

Professor Yongtaek Hong was selected as the winner of Okawa Grant Award given by the Okawa Foundation for Information and Telecommunications of Japan. He received the award at the ceremony that was held in Tokyo on November 7th.

Dr. Seungwoo Lee, who received his PhD at SNU Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (Supervisor: Professor Sung June Kim), was appointed as an assistant professor of Neurosurgery at Harvard Medical School since November 1st, 2018.

According to SNU College of Engineering on the 21st of November, professor of Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering Kyuseok Shim, was elected as a fellow of Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, known as IEEE, a world-renowned organization.

Under the sponsorship from BK21 plus project, department of electrical and computer engineering of SNU participated in the booth presentation at the 40th International Engineering in Medicine and Biology Conference (EMBC), which was held from July 17th to 21st in Hawaii, the United States.

On November 21st, 2018, executives and working level staffs of Google, including CEO John Lee, CEO Junsung Hong, and Manager Aimin Zhu, visited our department and discussed cooperation possibilities such as expanding internship programs for students.

There was an event held in the auditorium B103 of building 39. Students enrolled in the graduate course ‘Neural Prosthesis’ of ECE invited people who are actually using the technologies they study to exchange knowledge and information and to encourage each other.
