Samsung Display announced on the 15th that it recruited SNU Professor Changhee Lee, a global authority in the field of display material, as executive vice president.
Beginning from upcoming September, Professor Lee will move to Samsung Display and concentrate on the development of new-generation display material and products. He has worked as a SNU ECE professor since 2004 and earned his PhD degree in physics under Professor Alan Heeger of Univ. of California at Santa Barbara, who received the Nobel Prize in 2000.
Also, he served as the International Electrotechnical Commission(IEC) Organic Light-Emitting Diode(OLED) International Standardization Sector Captain for two consecutive years beginning in 2004, and he obtained various research outcome in the field of display material. For instance, in 2005, he developed the world’s most effective RGB quantum dot material.
Last year, he was recognized for his contribution to the development of key technologies in OLED and quantum dot and was awarded the Doyak Medal, Order of Science and Technological Merit
According to a source from Samsung Display, “We expect that our company’s OLED technology leadership, one of the world’s best, will be further reinforced, and the achievement of an insurmountable gap with competing companies will be accelerated.”
Professor Lee commented, “I will help Samsung Display, which has led the market through ceaseless innovation, to once again overcome this crisis with a technological innovation and to uphold the glory of Korea’s display.”
