Min-Koo Han(SNU ECE Emeritus Professor), 9th president of the Korean Academy of Science and Technology(KAST) will be appointed in the morning of February 28th at the KAST Hall situated in Seongnam, Gyeonggi.
The new president Min-Koo Han was elected through a vote among KAST fellows and afterwards received approval from the regular gathering and the Ministry of Science and ICT. His three-year term begins in March and ends in February, 2022. As a professor at the State University of New York, he acted as one of the pioneers of research in amorphous silicon (a-Si) thin film transistors and a-Si thin film solar cells. He is acknowledged as a leading authority in thin film transistor (TFT), the key technology of flat panel display.
He received the Order of Science and Technology Merit of Changjo(Creation) in 2007 and Korea Best Scientist Award in 2010. He also served as the president of the Committee of Deans of Korea’s Colleges of Engineering, committee member of the National Science and Technology Commission, and president of the Committee on Green Growth under the Ministry of Knowledge Economy.
The appointment ceremony will be attended by past KAST presidents, fellows, and government officials.
