Researcher Jang Won-seok, under the guidance of advisor Professor Han Seung-yong, received the Student Best Paper Award at MT (Magnet Technology)-28 held in September 2023, presenting his findings in the Student Special Sessions. The winning presentation titled "An Experimental Study on the Performance of HTS Pancake Coil under Hoop Strain Using Mechanical Apparatus" encompasses the development of a device that mechanically generates a force simulating the electromagnetic forces occurring during the operation of high-temperature superconducting magnets at magnetic fields of several tens of Tesla levels. The presentation also includes the mechanical test results of high-temperature superconducting coils utilizing this apparatus.
