Professor Hyuk-Jae Lee elected as the chairman of the Institute of Electronics and Information Engineers (Electronic Times, 2022.11.27.)

The Institute of Electronics and Information Engineers announced on the 27th that they have elected Hyuk-Jae Lee, a professor at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, SNU, as the 53rd chairman. The term will last for a year, starting from the 1st of January next year.
Professor Lee received his bachelor’s degree and his master’s degree in electrical engineering from SNU, and received his doctorate from Purdue University. He previously worked as an assistant professor at the University of Louisiana, and as a senior engineer at Intel. Since 2001, he has been working as a professor at SNU.
He also worked as the PD of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy’s system semiconductors program. Other previously held positions include the director of the national program for the development of intelligent semiconductors. He now holds several other positions, including the director of DISU, the director of the system semiconductor industrial promotion center, and the member of the information communication new strategies board.
For his achievements in the field of AI and semiconductors for video processing, he received awards such as the Red Stripes Order of Service Merit, the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy award, the Haedong Scholar Award, and was also awarded more than 20 outstanding paper awards from academic conferences. He was also the director of the IEEE AI semiconductor circuit·system international conference, and held the conference in Korea. He also has experience as an editor in the international journal for circuits and systems for video processing.
Furthermore, the Institute of Electronics and Information Engineers elected Professor Choong-Yong Lee from Yonsei University as the senior vice chairman, Professor Jong-Wook Kim from Korea University, Won-Woo Noh from Yonsei University, and In-Schul Hwang from Kangwon University as the vice chairmen.
