[Yonhap News] Seoul National University – Incheon National University Joint Research Team Develops an Optimum Design Configuration for TFTs and QLEDs

[Reporter Gi-chang Im of Yonhap News] On the 29th of November, the S-OIL Science and Culture Foundation held awarding ceremonies for the 13th Outstanding Thesis Award and the 5th Next-generation Scientist Award at the S-OIL headquarters in Mapo-gu, Seoul.
 
The foundation awarded a research grant of 144 million Won (approximately $ 111,000) to the 12 young scientists and their 12 advisors who won the Outstanding Thesis Award in 6 scientific fields, and 240 million Won (approximately $ 185,000) to the 6 scientists who won the Next-generation Scientist Award in 6 scientific fields.
 
The Outstanding Thesis Awards were presented to the following doctoral candidates: Dr. Gi-hyun Kim and Dr. Jun-ho Choi from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) in Mathematics, Dr. Dong-ha Kim from KAIST and Dr. Jin-wook Kim from Seoul National University in Physics, Dr. Seung-jae Shin from KAIST and Dr. Jin-woo Shin from Korea University in Chemistry, Dr. Jun-hyuk Lee from KAIST and Dr. Dong-yoon Kim from Seoul National University in Life Sciences, Dr. Ju-sung Kim from Seoul National University and Dr. Jin-woo Lee from KAIST in Chemical Engineering/Materials Science, and Dr. Jung-bum Lee and Dr. Won-jun Shin from Seoul National University in Information Technology (IT).
 
The Next-generation Scientist Awards were granted to the following professors and researchers: Professor Hee-joon Yang from KAIST in Physics, Professor Hyo-jae Yoon from Korea University in Chemistry, Professor Yoon-hee Lee from Seoul National University in Physiology, Professor Jeong-yoon Seon from Seoul National University in Chemical Engineering/Materials Science, Professor Jae-woong Jung from KAIST in Information Technology (IT), and Dr. Sung-jong Yoo from the Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST) in Energy.
 
Anwar A. Al-Hejazi, the CEO of S-OIL stated, “There are globally recognized scientists by presenting outstanding papers in the field of basic science, indicating a bright future for science in Korea.” He also stated, “I will continue to support Korean scientists so that they can continuously dedicate themselves to research in the future.”
