The schedule for Thesis defence for M.S. & Ph.D. students is as follows;
you have to pass both major exam and English test. Those who fail to language test(TEPS, TOEFL etc.) can\'t print out bill. ○ Registration
1. Registration period
: April  15,  2013 ~ April  23,  2013
(meeting the deadline)
2. Please log on to http://eng.snu.ac.kr/ee/ and apply for your registration.
3. Please print out a copy of 석사논문심사원 from the website (the form can be printed only after registration) and submit it with 논문심사위원추천서(attached), the receipt of your payment, certificate of “The environmental protection and safety course” and certificate of “Sexual Assault prevention seminar” for the defence (about paying the fee, please see below) to Ms. Seo. (building#301, room#319) by April 23.
4. You need to submit following document to Ms. Seo by April 23.
- 석사논문심사원(You can get this at the website (http://eng.snu.ac.kr/ee/)
- 논문심사위원추천서 (Please check attached file \"석사논문-신청제출양식\" 2nd page)
- Receipt of payment (Please glue it onto A4 paper)
- certificate of “Sexual Assault prevention seminar”(http://help.snu.ac.kr)
- 연구윤리준수확인서 (Please check attached file \"석사논문-신청제출양식\" 3rd page)
* The term of validity of \"Sexual Assault prevention seminar Certificate\" is 1 year. So if your certificate is not valid, then please take course again.(http://help.snu.ac.kr)
* the 논문심사위원추천서 is attached for your use.

○ Paying for the Thesis defence
1. period: 15 April 2013 ~ 23 April 2013
2. Please print out your bill for your thesis defence due to the following procedure;
Please log on to http://my.snu.ac.kr/portal/site/snuep/ ⇒ click on 학사행정 ⇒ click on 수업관리 ⇒ click on 졸업정보 ⇒ click on 논문심사료 납부고지서(print out your bill)
3. Please take the printed bill and pay \\100,000 to 농협 bank and submit the receipt to Ms. Seo with your documents(석사논문심사원, 논문심사위원추천서, receipt, certificates)
4. period: April  15, 2013 ~ April  23,  2013

○ Please submit 3 copies of your dissertation to Ms. Seo from May 20 to May 24. (for 5days)
   Please write your name, student number, degree, professors name(3 of judging panel) with a pencil in the bottom of your dissertation.

○ Date of Thesis defence(announcement of Master Thesis Defence)
1. Date (for M.S.): May 31, 2013
2. Place :

5) Control, Instrumentation & Factory Automation field : Building 301, Room No. 821
6) Computer & VLSI Systemsfield : Building 301, Room No. 612

3. Total Presentation time is 25 minutes. (presentation:15minutes, Q&A and changing student: 10minutes)
4. You can use bell if you want. (But you need to ask your friend to ring a bell.)
5. you have to prepare following documents, Before your presentation.
1) 석사학위논문심사요지, 석사학위논문심사 평가서 및 논문상 추천서 : These are to submit to the head of the committee (of your thesis defence) before you start your defence. The head of the committee will fill out these forms and return it to you after you finish your defence. Please submit the completed forms to Ms. Yoomin Cho (building#301, room#319)
2) 석사우수논문심사대상 자체평가서 (optional) : This form is to recommend your thesis paper by yourself to the Master Thesis Award committee. This form is optional to submit.
6. Following documents have to be submitted to Ms. Seo by 7 June. 2013.
1)석사학위논문심사요지 (1 copy)
2)우수논문상 추천서
(1 copy, only candidate of excellent thesis award need to submit it.)
3)석사학위논문심사평가서
4)A minimum of 1 academic paper in an internationally or domestically renowned journal
(Each master program student can acquire the eligibility to submit dissertation only after he/she has submitted (as the first author) a minimum of 1 academic paper in an internationally or domestically renowned journal or presented (as the first author) a minimum of 1 academic paper at a conference.)
5)1 copy of your abstract (If your thesis is in English, then you have to submit abstract in English. if your thesis is in Korean, then you have to submit abstract in English.)

○ After you pass the defence
1. Please upload your Thesis PDF to library.snu.ac.kr by August 2, 2013 after you pass the defence.
2. Please submit 4 hard copies (one original, three photocopied ones) of your thesis to the Central Library : July 31, 2013~August 2, 2013(for 3 days)

* Please make sure that you have returned all your rented books to the Central Library before you submit your thesis. The Central Library won\'t take your thesis unless you have returned them all.

3. Please submit 학위논문제출확인서 to Ms. Seo by August 8, 2013.
You have done this things above I mentioned(The Central Library will issue this note of confirmation, when you submit your thesis)
, then you have to submit 학위논문제출확인서 to Ms.Seo in office or just scan it and email her by August 8, 2013.

4. Graduation ceremony will be held on August 29, 2013.(tentative)

(3) Please print out your bill for your thesis defence due to the following procedure;

(4) When you enroll on-line registration, please write bank account number, bank account holder, information of 3 judging panel exactly.
(5) If you change your judging panel professor, please let Ms,Seo know. (building#301, room#319)
(6) you have to make 6 copies of thesis.
5 copies are for 5 panel professors, submit it to each of them.
and you have to submit rest one to the office Ms.Seo.
you have to do these things a week earlier than thesis defence.

2. Schedule for Ph.D. Thesis Defense Announcements

(1) Ph.D. Thesis defence period : May 13, 2013.~June 12, 2013.->for one month
(2) Please let Ms. Seo know your Thesis defence date, place and time when you decide it by yourself.
(3) Please check eei website frequently. There will be updated date and time information on eei website.
In terms of reserving seminar room for for Ph.D. Thesis Defense Announcements, you have to make it by yourself. In our office, there is a reservation book. You can use it.

3. After Ph.D. Thesis defence, you have to submit following document by July 5, 2013.
1) 박사학위논문심사결과표 1 copy (the form can be printed only after registration.)
2) 박사학위논문심사요지, 1 copy (the form can be printed only after registration.)
3) 구술고사 성적표, 5 copy (the form can be printed only after registration.)
4) 투표용지, 5 copy (the form can be printed only after registration.)
5) 박사학위논문예비심사결과보고, 1 copy (the form can be printed only after registration.)
6) Academic paper in an internationally or domestically renowned journal or conference as the first author (like SCI) (Or international patent).
if you received SNU admission before 2008, then you need to submit  a minimum of 1 academic paper(like SCI).
But if you received SNU admission in 2008 or after 2008, then you need to submit a minimum of 2 academic papers.
(But 2 SCI academic paper are not accepted. You need to prepare each of SCI academic paper and conference paper)
7) Abstract 1copy (If you thesis is English-> English abstract/ If your thesis is Korean -> Korean abstract)
8) 논문비공개신청 1copy. (Optional) (A closed period is 1year)

4.  After you pass the defence
(1) Please upload your Thesis PDF to library.snu.ac.kr by August 2, 2013. after you pass the defence.
(2) Please submit 4 hard copies (one original, three photocopied ones) of your thesis to the Central Library. : July 31, 2013~August 2, 2013.(3days)
(3) Please make sure that you have returned all your rented books to the Central Library before you submit your thesis. The Central Library won\'t take your thesis unless you have returned them all.
(4) Please submit 학위논문제출확인서 to Ms. Seo (Please visit the office or e-mail her(arseo@snu.ac.kr) by  August 8, 2013. (The Central Library will issue this note of confirmation, when you submit your thesis)
