Minimum score of 601; IBT TOEFL: a minimum score of 85.

Students who wish to be acknowledged as having passed the English examination must submit

passing official scores on standardized examinations taken within 2 years before the submission

of the dissertation evaluation application documents (beginning of April for the 1st semester;

beginning of October for the 2nd semester) during the same semester. However, scores obtained

and acknowledged as passing upon or after students’ entrance to the graduate school of the

Scores on internationally recognized and standardized English examinations other than TEPS or TOEFL likewise may be approved upon deliberation by the Graduate Studies Committee.

(Exemption from the Foreign Language Examination) Students who satisfy any of the

following may be exempt from the foreign language examination. Those who wish to be exempt

from the foreign language examination must submit relevant supporting documents during the

foreign language examination application period.

1. Students whose scores on the foreign language examination taken as a part of graduate school entrance examinations satisfy the standards for their respective academic programs

As for international students who have failed to pass the Korean examination on at least one

occasion, those recommended by their academic advisor may take an oral examination

administered by a faculty member related to the study and/or education of the Korean language

designated by the President of the University instead.

Students who have completed and obtained a minimum grade of C- on a Korean course offered

during the regular semester or summer/winter semester as a substitute for the Korean examination

as a part of the Qualifying Test (Korean Language and Culture 1 or 2) are to be exempt from the

Korean examination. However, the credits obtained from such a course are not to be included

among those for students’ course work completion.

The Dean of the College of Engineering must select students who must take the Korean

examination (including the oral examination) each semester and submit the list to the Office of

Academic Affairs by the designated deadline.
