SNU President Fellowship (SPF)
2015 Fall Semester
1. Overview
Recognizing its global social responsibility, Seoul National University launched the SNU President Fellowship to provide opportunities to faculty members of major universities in developing countries of Asia to pursue PhD degrees at SNU. This was created from the recognition that the main driver for national development of Korea has been its human capital and Korea is now responsible to share its experiences with other developing nations.
2. Eligibility Criteria
Applicants much meet the following criteria in order to be considered for the SNU President Fellowship:
Faculty and staff of major universities in developing countries of Asia WITHOUT PhD degree
He or She must be admitted to SNU as Ph. D Student for fall 2015, after that he or she will be eligible to apply for SPF.
Note: selection priority will be given to faculty members of Asian University Forum (AUF) member universities)

3. Fellowship Details
SNU will award three-year fellowships consisting of:
Full tuition and fees
KRW 24,000,000 yearly stipend (paid over 12 months)
Round-trip airfare (approx. KRW 2,000,000)
Korean language training
Mentoring program (research methods and writing)
Extracurricular activities (cultural excursion and field trips)
4. Research Areas
Applicants can apply to pursue PhD in any research areas but selection priority will be given to applicants doing exceptional work in engineering, medicine, public health, agriculture, developmental studies, Korean studies and etc.
5. PhD Admission Timeline for 2015 Fall Semester
Online Application Deadline: February 9 (Mon) – March. 26 (Thu), 2015 (by 6:00pm, local time in Korea)
Announcement of Admissions Decision: June 5 (Fri), 2015

6. SPF Application Timeline for 2015 Fall Semester
Announcement to each department/ institution: 5 June (Fri), 2015
After He or She is admitted to SNU as PhD student for fall 2015, Office of International Affairs (O.I.A) will send out the guideline and application announcement to all the departments and institutions in SNU.
Application Deadline: 26 June (Fri), 2015
The departments and institutions will make public announcement so that students who is eligible can apply for it. Then departments and institutions will collect the documents and information of applier and send them to O.I.A as official document.
Announcement of selected SPF Applicants: 6 July (Mon), 2015
As a final step, the SPF Committee will screen the applications and select the SPF applicants
