Seminar Title: Trends of Touch Sensing Technology and Future Perspectives
Seminar Abstract:
Since the multi-touch user interface was adopted in smartphones, capacitive touch-sensing technologies have become a dominant form of human-machine interaction. Touch sensing technologies are closely related to evolution of display technologies, and we are facing several technical challenges, as flexible displays become an emerging technology that will enable lighter, thinner and more durable display with beautiful designs, e.g., curved edges.
This lecture is composed of four parts. The first part will introduce touch sensing system and sensing methods in general. The second part will explain trends of capacitive touch sensing technology and the third part will be devoted to technical issues in them. The last part will present future perspectives in this area.
Lecturer:
Dr. Yoon-Kyung Choi is a Master of System LSI Business, Samsung Electronics. His background is based on touch-sensing and display-driving technologies. He has been an IMMD (Imager, MEMS, Medical and Display) sub-committee member of the International Solid-State Circuits Conference (ISSCC) since 2015.
He received his Ph.D. in electrical engineering from the KAIST, Daejeon, Korea, in 1996. From 1997 to 2000, he was with the Analog products development team at LG Semiconductor and designed a family of data converters. He joined Samsung Electronics in 2003, and has led development of advanced display-driving technologies and touch-sensing technologies.
