Seminar Title: PMIC in Mobile Applications
Seminar Abstract:
PMIC (Power Management IC) delivers the required power rails for the various function blocks in the electrical systems through proper power conversions and regulations. It is one of the key components in recent mobile devices, because the mobile device’s battery life time is heavily dependent upon the performances of the PMIC such as conversion efficiency. This lecture will give, 1) the basic technologies related with PMIC products, 2) the product line-up in Samsung S.LSI business unit, and 3) the overall trends in mobile PMIC technology.
Lecturer:
Dr. Yang received the B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in EE from Seoul National Univ. in 1992, 1994, and 1999, respectively. His doctoral research spanned from the design and fabrication of GaAs-based field-effect transistors (FETs) to the design and analysis of the high-speed and ultra-broadband circuits. In 1999, he joined System-LSI business unit in Samsung Electronics, where he has been a project leader for many RFIC products in cellular and wireless connectivity applications until 2014. During 2014~2015, he led the development of the whole wireless connectivity solutions including WiFi, Bluetooth, and GNSS. In 2016, he joined Power Device Team and is now working on the development of PMICs for various applications. During 2008~2009, he was a visiting scholar at Department of EE in Stanford Univ.
