Abstract:

Recent years, engineering is getting married with life science and medicine to new directions, providing new opportunities to engineers in mobile health care and brain monitoring.  In this talk, a new smart point-of-care test (POCT) clinical diagnostic system for use in mobile health care will be presented first. The mobile POCT system allows the user to have mobile and smart health care with the quality of lab-based methods. Then, a novel lab-on-a-tube for smart catheter, which are integrated with spirally-rolled pressure, temperature, oxygen and glucose sensors, will be presented for multimodality neuromonitoring of patients with traumatic brain injury (TBI).  A new flexible, wearable and implantable pressure sensor array for monitoring the pressure vectors of injured brain will be presented for the effective critical care of the traumatic brain injury (TBI).
