Semiconductor Technologies for Human Interface and Low Power Operation

Abstract:
The semiconductor industry has been continuously advancing for last fifty years by removing many challenging technical barriers based on the ingenuity of multiple disciplines of engineering and science. Driven by the increasing penetration of mobile internet into the daily life of the global population, the demand on innovations in semiconductor components is increasingly high. It includes the traditional push for higher computational power of processors, higher capacity and interface speed of memory components, and higher bandwidth of wired and wireless communication. Moreover, we are experiencing breakthroughs in human interface technologies which enable more effective use of the available computing and communication power. Another significant push is low power technologies that expand from chip level power reduction to the power/cooling optimization of server farms. This talk will address the semiconductor trends in the human interface and low power technologies.
