Abstract:
Online applications like Chat GPT, YouTube, and Netflix have become central components in our daily lives.
One significant characteristic that sets these new online platforms apart from traditional legacy media is the
elimination of the clear division between content creators and consumers. We now seamlessly transition
between consuming and generating content, leading to a significant surge in data traffic. While many people
may only observe the surface of this digital transformation, behind t he scenes, there is a constant exchange of
enormous data traffic. Wireless communication and wired interconnects/interfaces are the two pillars of future
IT infrastructure in realizing high performance computing and meeting the demands of the hyper scale A I era.
From on chip and inter chip interfaces, interconnects between devices and servers, and finally to wireless
communications, we never can expect the truly connected world without any of these essential technologies.
In this talk, we look over the real m of advanced circuits and design techniques designed to facilitate ultra fast
communication. We will explore the present state of these technologies and engage in discussions about their
promising future.

Biography:
Prof. Jaehyouk Choi received the B.S. degree ( summa cum laude ) in Electrical Engineering from Seoul National
University, Seoul, in 2003 and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the
Georgia Institute of Technol ogy, Atlanta, GA, USA, in 2008 and 2010, respectively. From 2010 to 2011, he was
with Qualcomm, Inc., San Diego, CA, USA, where he was involved in designing multi standard cellular
transceivers. In 2012, he joined the Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology (UNIST) as a Faculty
Member. From 2019 to 2023, he was an Associate Professor at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and
Technology (KAIST), Daejeon. Since September 2023, he has been an Associate Professor at the Seoul National
University, Seoul. His research interests include analog, mixed signal, and RF integrated circuit designs for ultra
high d ata rate but energy efficient wireline and wireless communication systems. Dr. Choi has been a TPC
Member of the IEEE International Solid State Circuits Conference (ISSCC) since 2017, the IEEE European Solid
State Circuits Conference (ESSCIRC) since 2016, and the IEEE Asian Solid State Circuits Conference (A SSCC)
since 2021. He was a Distinguished Lecturer (DL) of the Solid State Circuits Society (SSCS) from 2020 to 2021.
He is now ISSCC TPC Far East Regional Vice Chair for ISSCC 2024, and he also has serv ed as an Associate Editor
of IEEE Journal of Solid State Circuits (JSSC). He was a recipient of IEEE IEIE Joint Award: Young Engineer of the
Year 2020.
