SNU Professor Seung-Woo Seo was elected as the next president of the Institute of Electronics and Information Engineers(IEIE).

The Korean Academy of Science and Technology, an academic institute of science and technology, has announced on Dec. 1st that 33 young scientists under the age of 43 notable for outstanding research accomplishments in the field of science and technology have been chosen as members of the 2022 ‘Young Korean Academy of Science and Technology’.

He invented one of the digital conversion compression methods of analog signals and developed technology to frame information for optical communication.

The Korean Institute of Information Scientists and Engineers announced that Professor Shim took office on the 1st of January and will lead the institute for one year.

The 3.1 Cultural Foundation announced on the 27th that they have selected Korea University Emeritus Professor Kyung-Ho Shim, Harvard University medical school professor Kwang-Soo Kim, Seoul National University professor Kyung-Mu Lee, and photographer Bon-Chang Koo as the recipients of the 63d 3.1 Culture Award.

During the 29th Korean Conference on Semiconductors, Ph.D. Seong-Yoon Woo (currently in Samsung Electronics, Advising professor: Jong-Ho Lee (S)) was awarded the best paper award (certificate and a plaque consisting of 37.5g of 24k gold)

Seung-Woo Seo (above photo), a professor at the SNU Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, is called the “godfather” of Korean autonomous vehicle research.

SNU announced on the 1st that it will hold an award ceremony for the ‘SNU Excellence in Research Award’. The ceremony will be broadcast in real time on the official SNU YouTube channel.

SNU College of Engineering (Dean Byoungho Lee) announced on the 16th that on Friday, December 10th, ECE Professor Kyomin Jung received the ‘2021 IEEE ICDM 10-Year Highest-Impact Paper Award’. IEEE ICDM is the top conference in the field of data mining.
