Our department’s 2019 spring semester excellent lectures were selected as the following.

A total of 256 people, including 228 players and judges, participated in the Soccer Competition of Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering which started on March 24th, 2019.

There was an official start of the forum where experts in the industries and academia came together to discuss the future of ‘intelligent semiconductor’, which is considered to be the next growth engine of the semiconductor market in the era of AI.

The current focus of interest in the IT industry is ‘5G’. Last April, the era of 5G technology was initiated with the commercialization of 5G. Consumers were primarily interested in how faster 5G would be compared to LTE.

Prof. Byoungho Lee from Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Seoul National University, was voted as Vice President at the election held on June 28th. His term as Vice President will start next year, and he will become president the year after.

Professor Yongtaek Hong, whom we met at the Inter-University Semiconductor Research center, SNU, Gwan-ak gu, Seoul, on June 20th, is working on implementing an electronic system that can be applied on round surfaces such as the human body to make rubber band-like stretchable display.

SNU College of Engineering announced on the 2nd that SNU Prof. Yongtaek Hong’s research team(Researcher Jong Jang Park) developed solution-processed polymer light emitting diodes that allows the customized formation of transparent and conductive polymer top anodes and Ag bottom cathodes by using inkjet printing.

Sangkyun Cha, director of SNU Big Data research center (Professor of Dept. of ECE) emphasized the importance of ‘ambidextrous intellectuals’ at the ‘Maekyung-IBM Sync Summit Korea’ as the keynote speaker, which was held in Shilla Hotel, Jung-gu, Seoul on the 11th of June.

The World Economic Forum (also known as the Davos Forum) recognizes researchers under the age of 40 with exceptional research achievements as Young Scientists every year. This year, three Korean researchers were included in the list of Young Scientists of 2019.

KT held hands with SNU and kicked off the development in 6G (sixth generation mobile communication) technology going beyond 5G (fifth generation mobile communication).
