“Regarding semiconductor policies, there is a division of roles between related government bodies such as MOTIE (Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy), MOE (Ministry of Education), and the Ministry of Science and ICT. I believe that cooperation is necessary to achieve results.”
The SNU College of Engineering (Dean Yoo-Seok Hong) signed a MOU with SK Telecom (SKT) and SK Hynix on the 19th of July for industrial-academical cooperation in AI and semiconductor-related programs.
In the first quarter of this year, the share of Chinese companies such as SMIC in the global semiconductor foundry market was 10.2%, exceeding 10% for the first time.
The Ministry of Science and ICT and the National Research Foundation of Korea selected Professor Sung-Hoon Kwon of the SNU Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering on the 6th as the awardee of the Science and Technology Researcher of the Month Award for the month of July.
“The organic cooperation between industry, education, and research is the beginning of a country with hegemony over semiconductor technology. Through this process, high-quality talents can be nurtured, and a virtuous cycle ecosystem of super-gap technology can be created.”
